Tough road games to end the season vs. two of the top teams (maybe?) in the division in cold-weather climates.

Destination trip to Vegas in October.

Three straight home games early in the season.

25th anniversary year of the 1994 team that beat Marshall in the semifinal FCS game. Boise would go on to lose the natty to Youngstown State.

Correct. He won 4 national titles in 15 years as YSU head coach.

Now he's back there as University President.

I wish Portland State was our home opener. I’m out of town that weekend. Oh well.

Yeah.  Marshall is pretty good, too.  Beat USF in the Gasparilla Bowl to finish 9-4 last year. Went 8-5 in 2017 and beat CSU in the New Mexico Bowl.

Troy would have beaten them by 10 last year.

That’s a cool factoid.  I assume that anniversary was taken into account when scheduling with them. Very smart and strategic on the part of our AD.

Pretty good schedule to break in a new starter at QB.

I wish the Portland State was the opener to give the new QB a cupcake before the FSU game.

Marshall game has changed dates to be on Friday night September 6th. (assuming because of deal with ESPN.)

I think it was Marshall that went up early in that game.  Hilde got hurt and Mark Paljetak came in and threw a touchdown pass to Lee Schrack just before halftime.  That put spark into the Broncos.  Paljetak started the second half and drove the ball.  He was under duress and threw an ill advised pass that was intercepted and ended the drive.  Hilde came in on the next series and took care of business.  I'm good friends with Mark.  He lives here in Boise.  He's a great guy and a great Bronco.  That was his day of fame, changing the momentum and putting the Thundering Herd on their heels.

I normally hate FCS games, for numerous reasons, but considering we have to break in a new starting QB & RB, I can stomach it.  But I entirely agree that I wish it was the first game of the year so everyone could get their bearings first.  The only way I'd be OK with FCS is if the game is against teams like NDSU, EWU, or James Madison.

Three games moved to Friday.  No late home games (7 pm isn't late, right?)

Still can't find TV info for BYU (assuming ESPN?) - maybe moves to Friday night?

Florida State game will be nationally televised on ABC/ESPN/ESPN2 and they'll set our time slot.

Our bye weeks come before two of the weaker teams on the schedule. Not ideal. I don't see CSU being a top Mountain team. Boise, Air Force, and Utah State will be the top three. Wyoming will likely be 4th. CSU loses a ton off a pretty weak team.

The Boise St vs BYU game will be on ESPN family of networks.  Also, I'm really happy that the bye weeks are rather evenly spaced, I just wish they were prior to more challenging opponents.
